Homeschool Resources

As a working homeschool mom, I am always looking for new resources that will make homeschooling easier for me. The resources I share are cirriculums that I have found to work the best for our family. Every family and learning style is different. If these also work for you that is wonderful!

Note: This is not an exhaustive list, but are some resources that I am familiar with that might help give you a sense of direction about your homeschool. Some of these may include affiliate links.

Dyslexia

I have one child with dyslexia and have found these two especially helpful.

Teaching Styles

The Following I’ve organized around teaching styles. Remember your teaching style may be affected by how much time you have.

  • The Authority (Lecture , teacher-led Style)
  • The Facilitator (Not as hands on for parents – could be a complete boxed curriculum or online )
  • The Delegator (Group Style like classical conversations co-op or co-op that has specific educational classes)
  • The Hybrid (Some teacher led activities and some activities that are independent)

Authority

I find that any program with an extensive parent/ teacher guide means a lot of time investment. These are a few that I have tried or an very familiar with.

  • Gather Round – great for multiple ages and a family learning together.
  • Abeka parent led
  • Learning Language Arts Through Literature

Facilitator

These programs have very little parental teaching. They are complete programs. Some offer accredited or unaccredited options. Of course, these can be more costly than parent-led programs.

Hybrid

Some of these are just individual subjects that offer video teachers. As a parent you may have some work, or you can opt to use online programs for only certain subjects.

Math

Saxon Math with Nicole the Math Lady, and the online grading package. (I have used this for a number of years and love it! This past year I had a student in Algebra 1 and another in Algebra 2 and they needed very little help from me.)

Writing:

IEW with online streaming. This does require some help from the parent helping with revisions etc, but the teaching portion is done through videos two days per week.

Science:

  • Science Shepherd
  • Apologia with videos
  • Berean Builders with videos
