Vintage dresses are a great find

However you may want to change up the style a little. Once you become familiar with a sewing machine the possibilities are endless. This vintage dress I converted into a skirt and top for a client.

Whenever you are turning a dress into a skirt you will have to think through how to create a waistband since a dress does not have an existing one. Also if you are folding the fabric down to create a waist it will use fabric from the bodice, which could make the bodice top too short.
